The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) has announced the category winners for this year’s award, which includes the Kia EV9 electric vehicle (EV).

The five categories in the 2024 WWCOTY are the following: Family Car, Large Car, SUV, Exclusive Car, and 4x4 & Pickup. The all-female jury said that the category winners represent excellence in their segments in terms of safety, driving, technology, comfort, efficiency, environmental impact, and value for money.

WWCOTY shared that there were a total of 62 vehicles pitted for this year’s award. All of the vehicles must have been launched on at least two continents between January 1 and December 31, 2023. From 62 candidates, the jury selected the top five vehicles that best represent each of the categories.

"Voting was not easy due to the extraordinary level of the candidates," said WWCOTY president Marta Garcia.

“No vote was given at random. All have responded to demanding driving tests, detailed analysis and challenging studies of the competition. That's why the WWCOTY awards are the benchmark for millions of buyers around the world,” added Garcia.

Of note, this is the 14th edition of the WWCOTY, an organization that takes pride in having the only all-female jury in the automotive industry worldwide. It consists of a team of 74 women motoring journalists from 52 countries on five continents.

There’s a Filipino on the WWCOTY jury team. Her name is Genevieve Tiu, a journalist and video producer at CarGuide.PH, and contributing writer to The Philippine Star Wheels.
