Kia Philippines announced that the 2022 Carnival will make its local debut on February 17, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. The company invites everyone to witness the arrival of the minivan via its virtual launching which will happen on its official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The Korean marque's public invitation

But what can we expect to see on the launch of the Kia Carnival? Well, Kia Philippines remains mum regarding the specifications of the PH-spec model. The only certain information we have about the upcoming minivan is that it will come in its fourth-generation form, succeeding the outgoing generation which had a 7-year run in the industry.

The next-gen Kia Carnival features a more modernized appearance highlighted by the brand’s signature tiger nose grille. It comes with sleeker headlights, full-width taillights, and a handful of chrome bits that add a premium appeal to the exterior finish. To show that it is indeed the new model, the minivan is expected to sport the brand’s new logo.

Looking at the global model, the Carnival comes with a 7-seating configuration, with the second-row benefiting from Kia’s ‘Premium Relaxation Seat.’ As for the powertrain, the minivan was initially introduced with two engine options, including the 3.5-liter Smartstream G3.5 V6 (gasoline) and 2.2-liter Smartstream D2.2 inline-4 (diesel). But based on our previous report, the PH-spec model will likely use the latter engine.

In another report, Kia Philippines will start sourcing vehicles from Malaysia which will include the new Carnival. The specifications between the PH-spec and Malaysian-spec should now be similar for the most part including the powertrain. As such, the diesel engine is expected to drive the minivan on Philippine roads.

Kia Philippines will offer the 2022 Carnival in two variants, namely the EX 7-seater and SX 7-seater. Only the starting price has been revealed by the Korean marque which is at P2.540-million slated for the base EX variant. Reservations are now open on the company’s official website.
