It's no secret to car manufacturers and brands that crossovers are making big sales. In fact, they know this very well more than we do. Asides from that, there's also another thing that's making contemporary car models stand out from their predecessors. 

Electric power application in vehicles isn't widely patronized or appreciated widely here in the Philippines just yet. However, the trusted names in vehicle manufacturing services are now modifying their designs to mass produce electric vehicles (EV).

Honda modified its HR-V into first-produced EV crossover: Honda VE-1 2019

Honda, one of the biggest vehicle manufacturers in the world, has been the latest brand to launch a crossover vehicle equipped with electric technology. 2018 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition was very important for the brand and brand leaders since their 1st ever mass-produced electric vehicle: Honda EV-1 2019 was introduced to the public through leasing programs. This debut was indeed a significant one and Honda was no less than proud of the release of their latest model.

It is noticeable that the electrified crossover resembles the Honda HR-V but still getting minor differences. Take a look at how they made the Honda HR-V into the Honda VE-1:

  • They changed the position of the air intakes.
  • It now has a unique grill.
  • The charging port is right under the newly designed grill.

  • The units are also installed with a panoramic sunroof.
  • There's also a screen that indicates battery status as well as the status of the driving system.

3. Honda VE-1 2019 Electric Drivetrain

  • The batteries can be found under the floor.
  • It is equipped with a 53.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can make out 163 PS and 280Nm of torque.

For now, there is no news as to whether Honda plans to cater to clients outside of China.
