Honda Civic, Brio win big in 2022-23 Auto Focus Media’s Choice Awards

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is ending the year on a high note as several of its models were recognized in the 2022-2023 Auto Focus Media’s Choice Awards (AFMCA).

The AFMCA is now in its 18th year, and it is organized by Sunshine Television and Marketing Services, Inc. (STV). The Media’s Choice Awards is driven to help car buyers in their vehicle purchase decision. Select motoring media determine awardees in four categories: Best Design, Best Engine Performance, Best Safety Features, and Best Value for Money.  

The all-new Civic is one of the Honda vehicles that received high remarks in the 2022-2023 AFMCA. The Honda Civic won three out of the four categories in the Standard Compact Sedan class. Specifically, the Civic received the following awards: Best Design, Best Engine Performance, and best Safety Features.

The 11th-generation Honda Civic comes with a revamped design inside and out. It has won several international awards such as clinching the 2022 North America Car of the Year. The Civic is also included in the 10 vehicles to have the best interior last 2021.

In terms of safety, the all-new Honda Civic boasts a 5-star rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The Civic posted notable scores for overall occupant protection as per the crash tests conducted by the ASEAN NCAP. 

HCPI is currently offering the Civic in three variants with a starting price of Php 1,368,000 while the top-spec variant retails at Php 1,760,000. Standard across all Civic variants is the Honda Sensing driver-assistive feature, which helps give you safer drives. All variants are also equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine that delivers 176 hp and 240 Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the Brio is another Honda model that smashed the competition in the 2022-2023 AFMCA. The Brio also took home three awards namely: Best Design, Best Engine Performance, and Best Safety Features in the Standard Mini Hatchback class. 

HCPI said that the Brio’s sleek and sporty design as well as its safety features contributed to bringing home the three awards. The Brio also has a claimed fuel consumption of 24.39 km/l, which is something to note considering the current fuel prices in the country.

Honda Civic

The 2023 Honda Civic is a compact, five-door sedan. It is now in its eleventh-generation. For the Philippine market, the Civic has a price range of Php 1,583,000 to Php 1,775,000. It has three variants consisting of the V Turbo, and the RS Turbo as the top-spec trim. All of them are equipped with the Honda Sensing driver assist safety suite, and all use a 1.5-liter turbocharged VTEC inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making up to 175 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. All trims use a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Size-wise, the 2023 Civic is 4,678mm long, 1,802mm wide, and 1,415mm in height. It wheelbase length measures 2,735mm long, and it has a ground clearance of 134mm. Competitors of the Honda Civic for the Philippine market includes the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Mazda3, Kia Forte, Nissan Sylphy, among others.
