These guys know the challenges of driving a lowered car.

Lowering a car’s stock ride height (commonly referred to as ‘slamming’) has been a long-standing practice among custom car enthusiasts.

While there are practical performance improvements that come with slamming a car (such as reduced drag and better handling), many people who say goodbye to the factory-spec height are more into the style it brings, for better or worse.

Slammed cars inspire awe and admiration when done properly. Otherwise, they elicit chuckles when the driver struggles to approach even the slightest road hump at an angle, to avoid scraping either the body kit or the underchassis. As mean-spirited as it sounds, the latter is a constant source of entertainment, especially with the (oftentimes absurd) road conditions we have to deal with on a regular basis.

There are those who take slamming pretty seriously though, and are ready to help owners of lowered cars navigate around the pitfalls of driving one. One such example is the Facebook page Sasayad Ba Paps, which claims to be a team based in Manila and Tokyo (where the custom car style originated).

On the About section, the group explains that the page is dedicated to “help you in your struggle of driving a lowered car in Metro Manila.”

To that end, the page seeks out and promotes public places such as malls, hotels, cafes, and similar locations that are “lowered car-friendly,” meaning those that can safely accommodate slammed cars without the risk of damaging them.

The page is largely a showcase of various lowered cars, with some even featuring alterations to the wheel and tire size, as well as camber modifications. There are also humorous memes and video clips relating to lowered cars or just motoring in general.
