DPWH conducts rehabilitation works at C.M. Recto Ave NB until August

In an effort to provide safer roadways for motorists and commuters, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has launched a preventive rehabilitation program for national roads in Metro Manila. The latest initiative is the repair project at C.M. Recto Avenue.

The government agency is conducting repair works at C.M. Recto Avenue’s inner northbound lane, including road sections between Juan Luna and L. Cano Street. This rehabilitation and reconstruction project has caused a partial road closure, which results in a traffic slowdown in the area.

Under the repair project, the Department of Public Works and Highways – North Manila District Engineering Office (NMDEO) has mobilized the equipment for the job. Last year, the agency acquired road maintenance equipment worth Php 32 million to finish road repair works faster and more efficiently.

Included on the repair activity list at the C.M. Recto Avenue northbound road are breaking and hauling of existing concrete pavement, and pouring and curing of concrete pavement.

The DPWH is advising motorists to take alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion around the repair area. Of note, the repair of C.M. Recto Avenue is said to run until August 23, 2023.

Apart from the C.M. Recto Avenue, the rehabilitation of the Lagusnilad Vehicular Underpass is another ongoing repair project in the city of Manila. It will take a while before motorists and commuters can use this underpass again as the repair project is scheduled to end in September 2023. A heavy traffic flow is expected in the area so motorists are advised to plan their routes ahead of time.

The DPWH is also conducting road widening works by relocating electric poles. Not only does this program provide motorists with wider roads to use but also keep them safer while out on the road. These poles can cause high-speed crashes, especially at night when some motorists find it challenging to see the road.
