The new milestone translates to a 51 percent increase over Chery’s April sales performance, which sold 214 units. Moreover, the company registered a 2.4 percent year-on-year growth as the total sales reached 1,286 units.
“This record-breaking sales for the month of May and our positive year-on-year sales growth mark the start of Chery’s more aggressive approach in taking the brand to the next level. We are committed to establish Chery as one of the top brands chosen by the discerning Filipino car buyers,” said Chery Philippines President Rommel Sytin.
According to Chery Auto Philippines, the Tiggo 5X and Tiggo 7 Pro led the impressive sales feat.
Chery Tiggo 7 Pro
The Chery Tiggo 5X is a subcompact crossover positioned between the smaller Tiggo 2 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro. Powering this vehicle is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine capable of generating 114 horsepower and 141 Nm torque. It can be connected to either a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Meanwhile, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a 5-seater compact crossover available in one variant only. It boasts features such as a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a wireless charger. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine good for 145 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque. A CVT is used to send power from the engine to the front wheels.
“As we continue to build on the brand’s strength in aftersales service, expect us to further strengthen our sales, marketing, network expansion, and product development efforts to ensure Chery’s success in the coming months and years,” added Sytin.
Soon, Chery Auto Philippines’ sales could be driven by the hybrid versions of the Tiggo 5X Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro. Both these electrified vehicles were previewed at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) last April 2023.
