Changan Auto tops Chinese car brands in reliability: Study

The brand also places seventh in the mainstream car brand category.

Changan Auto proudly announced that it won the first ranking of Chinese brands at the 2021 China New Vehicle Initial Quality Study (IQS) conducted by J.D. Power, the world’s leading consumer insight and market research firm.

The IQS is based on real-world feedback from 34,158 owners who purchased their vehicles between June 2020 to March 2021. The study covers 264 models from 58 brands, with data collected in 70 major Chinese cities between December 2020 and May 2021.

Based on the ranking, Changan Auto managed to secure an excellent performance of PP100 (202). This means that there were only 202 reported problems per 100 Changan vehicles during the said period above. The score was enough for it to best other Chinese car brands such as Chery Auto and Geely.

Moreover, Changan Auto took home the seventh place ranking in the mainstream car brand category of J.D. Power’s study. It compares closely to other luxury car brands such as Audi (207 of PP100), Volvo (208 of PP100), and Land Rover (211 of PP100).

According to the Chinese automaker, its models have to undergo strict validation to ensure quality. The accumulated verification mileage is four million kilometers, involving the 16 verification fields such as driving performance, noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels, durability and reliability, as well as thermal management, among others.

Changan CS75 Plus

The Changan CS75 Plus is a five-seater compact crossover that’s equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 176 hp and 265 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. 

The CS75 Plus goes up against the likes of the Honda CR-V, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Toyota Corolla Cross, among others. In terms of dimensions, the Changan CS75 Plus measures 4,690mm long, 1,865mm wide, and 1,710mm tall. It also has a wheelbase of 2,710mm.
