CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension now open

Updated Aug 16, 2022 | Same topic: Latest Traffic Updates

More than 15,000 motorists are expected to benefit from the flyover extension.

The Manila-Cavite Expressway’s (CAVITEX) C5 Link flyover extension is now open to motorists. For those unaware or who might have forgotten about it, the C5 Link flyover is an extension that provides better access to and from Pasay, Parañaque, and Taguig.

It is part of the CAVITEX C5 Link project, which in total spans 7.7 kilometers. It will connect to CAVITEX R1 Parañaque toll plaza. It is said to help reduce travel time from CAVITEX to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay by 30 to 45 minutes. Over 50,000 motorists are seen to benefit from the CAVITEX C5 Link project upon its completion in 2023.

Construction for the C5 Link Project began way back in 2021, and it is spear-headed by the CAVITEX Infrastructure Corporation (CIC). CAVITEX in turn, falls under the management of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC).

With the new flyover extension now open, the CAVITEX management has also submitted a slight price increase for toll fees. Of note, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) also already approved a toll rate for the C5 Link extension.

Specifically, Class 1 motorists will have to pay Php 37. Class 2 motorists meanwhile will have to pay Php 74, and Class 3 will have to pay Php 112. These increases in toll rates won’t be implemented until September 2022.

The C5 Link Flyover Extension is Segment 3A2 of the C5 Link project

Going back to the C5 Link flyover extension, CIC president and general manager Raul Ignacio shared that more than 15,000 motorists “going to Taguig from Parañaque and vice versa are expected to benefit with this new segment of CAVITEX C5 Link.”

CAVITEX has also released some pointers on how to acess the C5 Link flyover extension.

Exit to Merville

-For those heading to Sucat, Paranaque, one can just drive straight to the C5 road extension.

-Those on their way to Merville may take a U-turn at E. Rodriguez Avenue in Parañaque

From Merville to Taguig

-Class 1 vehicles from Merville and the C5 Road extension may enter the expressway via a new entry point in front of Shell C5 Southlink. Next, one can then continue towards the Taguig exit.

-Class 2 and 3 vehicles meanwhile may pass through the C5 road extension, then make a U-turn at the slot located at Kaingin Road. From here, they can head straight to the CAVITEX C5 link Merville entry.

From West service road or South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) heading to Merville/Kaingin/Sucat

-Follow the West service road then make a left turn at the service road tunnel. After that, those heading to Kaingin or Sucat may then make a right to the C5 extension. Those heading to Merville, just follow the C5 road straight on.

An inauguration ceremony was also held and it was attended by various, officials executives and dignitaries

Apart from those pointers, the CAVITEX management also reminded motorists that some portions of the C5 Link project are still under construction. Specifically, this is the case for the segment linking CAVITEX towards Kawit, Cavite.

They also clarified that while it isn’t wholly complete, they have decided to open up segments that are already finished to motorists. This of course is the case for the C5 Link flyover that we’ve discussed above.
