CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension to open next week

Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) announced that the CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension will be opened to the public this month. Finishing works such as installing traffic signages are being undertaken for the project’s opening ceremony.

The news follows the update the toll road company made last month, saying that the project is at 95 percent completion. This means that the extended flyover should be accomplished on time for motorists traveling in the South to use.

In a report by GMA News, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) chief financial officer Chris Lizo said that the CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension will be opened on July 16.  

With a length of 1.6-km, the CAVITEX C5 Link flyover extension is added to the 2.2-km road network of the CAVITEX C5 Link. The extension provides a more convenient access to and from Taguig, Pasay, and Parañaque. Upon its launching, the Merville entry/exit ramps will be moved to the extension and a service tunnel road will be opened to the public.

Meanwhile, the construction for the CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 2 is now at 30 percent completion. It will be an important piece for connecting the CAVITEX C5 Link road network to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) sometime next year.

“The CAVITEX C5 Link will span a total of 7.7 km and connect to CAVITEX in 2023. This will help reduce travel time by thirty to forty-five minutes for motorists traveling from CAVITEX to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay (vice versa),” said CIC President and General Manager Mr. Raul L. Ignacio.

“This project also helps decongest major thoroughfares such as EDSA, MIA Road, etc., benefiting around 50,000 motorists daily,” added Ignacio.

To seamlessly traverse the extension, CIC is encouraging motorists to avail of an Easytrip RFID. It is free of charge but you have to pay for the initial load. The RFID can also be used in other expressways under MPTC including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), CAVITEX, and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
