Apple iPhone can soon control car’s climate system, and more: Report

Last year, Apple announced CarKey, which is a feature that was first used in BMW’s new 5 Series. This feature automatically unlocks the vehicle with a touch of one’s smartphone. It also offers various apps including “Parking” to find parking spots easier and “Quick Food Ordering” for a more convenient food ordering on the go.

The IronHeart could join Apple's pool of in-car technologies

Now, the American tech company is taking its in-car features to the next level with the development of the “IronHeart.” In a report by Engadget, the IronHeart allows iPhone users to control the climate control, radio, seats, and instrument clusters of their vehicles.

As of this writing, the IronHeart is still reportedly early in development and requires partnerships with car brands. Apple itself declined to comment regarding the new feature. But if it comes to pass, this iPhone feature will be joining Apple CarPlay and CarKey in the company’s in-car tech.

Apple’s IronHeart is not the first time in the automotive industry to offer the said in-car features. Tesla has its own version called the Tesla App. It comes with remote features such as climate control including the heated windshield and ventilated seats , engine start, Speed Limit Mode, “Smart Summon,” among others.

Furthermore, the IronHeart can be handy once the American tech company starts rolling out its Apple Car Project slated by 2024. The Apple Car is expected to utilize a “next-level” battery design that can offer impressive electric vehicle (EV) range and reduce battery costs.

In later reports, Apple is rumored to be teaming up with Toyota to develop its Apple Car. If this is true, then one can expect a good EV from the two as both are top leaders of their respective markets. Until then, we have to wait for further announcement from Apple as it has been mum regarding these new technologies.
