The all-new Mazda CX-60 is now available in the Philippines with two different variants. There’s the Sport Turbo-D 3.3 HEV AWD AT, and the Turbo 3.3 HEV AWD AT.

Mazda CX-60 Variant Guide: Exterior
Kicking off this variant guide is a comparison between the Sport Turbo-D and the Turbo trim’s exterior.
On the front of the CX-60 Sport Turbo-D are black chrome garnishes and a black honeycomb grille. Its side portion likewise features black-colored side mirrors and 20-inch black metallic wheels. An exhaust garnish with a black chrome finish is then found on the rear of this particular variant.
The CX-60 Turbo-D (Diesel)
Contrasting the CX-60 Sport Turbo-D are the CX-60 Turbo’s chrome front fascia garnishes, chrome grille, chrome exhaust pipes, and diamond-cut 20-inch alloy wheels. The exterior differences between the two variants end there as both essentially share the same set of features. Specifically, the two trims come standard with a power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic electric sunroof, power-folding side mirrors, etc.
The lighting elements for the two variants are likewise identical. The two trims both get adaptive LED headlamps with auto on/off, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights.

Step inside both CX-60 trims and one will find ample space for up to five occupants. Just like the exterior, the interiors of this new Mazda model are nearly identical save for their seats and interior trim pieces.

The Sport Turbo-D gets tan Nappa leather and suede seat covers, while the CX-60 Turbo has black Nappa leather. The former then sports graphite with gunmetal accent trim pieces, while the latter features aluminum with silver accents.
As mentioned above, both versions of the CX-60 offer the same convenience and comfort features. Common between the two is a dual-zone automatic climate control system, ambient lighting, a power tilt and telescopic steering column, a 10-way power adjustable driver and front passenger seat, and a 40:20:40 split-folding second-row seat.

The two CX-60 variants are also the same where onboard tech is concerned. Both come with 12.3-inch touchscreen displays, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 10.4-inch heads-up display.
The aforementioned 12.3-inch central touchscreens on both CX-60 versions then get wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB-C connectivity. Standard on the two variants is a 12-piece speaker system from Bose and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

Likewise present on both CX-60 models is the Mazda i-Activsense driver-assistive suite. This collection of advanced safety features includes radar cruise control, forward obstruction warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, front cross-traffic alert, driver attention alert, etc.
Safety is further reinforced on the two CX-60 variants by a total of seven airbags, anti-lock braking, stability control, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a 360-degree view camera, and parking sensors, among others.
Mazda CX-60 Variant Guide: Engine
While most of the features aboard the CX-60 Sport Turbo-D and CX-60 Turbo are similar, one big difference that sets them apart is their engines.
The CX-60 Sport Turbo-D uses a 3.3-liter inline-6 turbodiesel mill while the CX-60 Turbo is propelled by a 3.3-liter inline-6 turbocharged gasoline engine. Besides their combustion components though, both trims share the same 48-volt hybrid system that’s paired with a 0.33 kWh lithium-ion battery.

In total, the turbodiesel HEV variant can produce up to 251 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. The turbocharged gasoline HEV version meanwhile, can generate 280 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.
Other than their powertrains, the CX-60 trims are mechanically similar in that they both use an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and a front-engine, all-wheel-drive layout. Furthermore, ride quality on both trims is provided by a double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link type suspension for the rear.

The two trims then feature ventilated discs for both their front and rear wheels, as well as an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold.

As of the writing of this article, the Mazda CX-60 Sport Turbo-D is priced at Php 2,890,000. The CX-60 Turbo meanwhile, retails at Php 2,790,000.

It is safe to say that when safety and comfort are concerned, the diesel and gasoline versions of the Mazda CX-60 are largely on-par with each other. Both provide plenty of features to keep their occupants comfortable, and both can assure safe and stress-free rides.
The biggest difference between the two though is their engines and choosing one between the other can boil down to preference. But note that while both are peppy, the gasoline makes a bit more horsepower compared to the diesel option. The one with the diesel meanwhile, offers more torque.
To place those differences into perspective, Mazda says that the gasoline version is faster as it can deliver a zero to 100 km/h time of just 6.9 seconds. The diesel variant is a tad slower with its zero to 100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds. So that’s another thing to consider when looking to buy this new crossover.

In terms of powertrains alone, the Mazda CX-60 outmuscles many of its local competitors. But beyond that, it is already on par with many of the market leaders when it comes to on-board technology and comfort. Do note though that many similarly priced midsize models get a third row, which this Mazda doesn’t have.
