Polestar officially reveals its first car: The Polestar 1 2020

Polestar has officially unveiled its first model since its separation from Volvo after showing some teasers a few weeks ago. The first-gen model has a nice and simple name of “1”. It is a 2-door coupe in E segment running with hybrid tech. In fact, the Polestar 1 2020 is developed  based on the S90 – a high-end sedan of Volvo. So it seems that the newly-born carmaker is still not ready to completely cut its ties with the Swedish brand.

The Polestar 1 is capable of reaching an electric range of 150km which is the longest range that no hybrid vehicle can achieve. According to the latest car news, the manufacturer hasn’t disclosed full information about specs of the electric engine yet but it is said to be surely more powerful than the T8 Twin engine of the S90. With a perfect combination of an electric engine and a gas motor, the Polestar 1 is able to crank out 592hp and a massive 1,000 Nm while the high-end S90 produces about 392hp and 640Nm of torque.

In terms of design, the Polestar 1 2020 is recognized to resemble some styling cues of Volvo, especially in the front, including the "Thor's Hammer" signature in Led light and a large and stacked grille. The bumpers are adorned with bold touches along with specified wrinkles at each end. The 2-door coupe distinguishes itself from the S90 with with a clamshell hood.

The Polestar 1 2020 owns an elegant appearance thanks to its 2-door design. Its windshield is swept steeper with the rear part of the roof sliding down to combine with a shorter deck and the rear windscreen. Meanwhile, its dashboard shows a more improved interpretation compared to the older coupes. Two sides of the electric coupe are highlighted by the mirrors mounted on the door side together with frameless  design windows.

The Polestar 1 is equipped with the signature C-shaped tail lights of Volvo while the trunk lid has been altered to be in line with the look of a coupe. Not only shorter than the S90’s, the Polestar 1's rear bumper also has a lower section. This electric hybrid vehicle also features exclusive low-level tires accompanied with a set of big alloy wheels.
