Ferrari has premiered a limited-edition derivative of its 812 Superfast grand tourer, and it comes in not just one but two body styles. Meet the 2022 812 Competizione, making its global debut on the Italian automaker’s social media channels.
New Ferrari Limited-Edition V12 World Premiere
The new model was unveiled at the newly-opened GT Sporting Activities Department situated along Ferrari’s Fiorano test track, emphasizing the role that motorsports plays in developing road cars worthy of the Prancing Horse emblem. Ferrari promises that the pair of supercars will cater to an exclusive group of collectors who settle for nothing less than maximum performance.
Exterior
The standard 812 Competizione and Competizione A (aperta, Italian for ‘open’) convertible both sport sensuous yet aggressive lines that do more than just make the body visually striking. A carbon-fiber blade sits in a transverse groove on the hood, concealing the air vents while increasing their surface area. The modified fascia features a wide grille surrounded by a pair of air intakes, accompanied by a carbon-fiber splitter, highlighting the car’s wide stance.
Both the standard 812 Competizione and its drop-top version largely share the same aesthetic
Vortex generators on the roof of the 812 Competizione work with the extensive aero tweaks to add 80 kg of downforce compared to the 812 Superfast at 200 km/h. The removable carbon-fiber top on the Competizione A doesn’t have them due to design limitations, but compensates with a bridge between the flying buttresses behind the seats, deflecting airflow towards the rear spoiler.
Interior
As performance-focused machines, both models extensively feature carbon fiber on the interior. Leather is the default option to showcase the cars’ premium feel, with the contoured seats, interior door trim, steering wheel, and dashboard surfaces all covered in the material.
The interior is premium yet performance-oriented
Large turbine-shaped circular vents channel air from the dual-zone automatic climate control system, while the H-gate theme on the transmission tunnel echoes the Competizione and Competizione A’s racing heritage.
Tech & Safety
There’s little in the way of onboard entertainment (not that anyone would need it on a Ferrari), as a honeycomb panel sits in lieu of a touchscreen head unit between the central air vents. The instrument panel features a large tachometer gauge flanked by twin digital displays. A third digital screen sits within view of the passenger side, allowing those riding shotgun a better look at just how much the driver is pushing the car to its limits.
Engine & Drivetrain
At the heart of the 812 Competizione and Competizione A lies a direct-injection 6.5L V12 adapted from the Superfast, delivering 830 hp and 692 Nm of torque. The engine has been tweaked to rev as high as 9,500 RPM, made possible by titanium components such as the con-rods, pistons, and crankshaft. A diamond-like coating (DLC) reduces friction, and the crankshaft has been balanced to shed 3 percent of the weight from the previous version.

The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that delivers power to the rear wheels, retaining the same gear ratios on the 812 Superfast yet delivering sportier shifts due to the additional 500 RPM. Both models feature independent four-wheel steering for exceptional maneuverability and handling.
Pricing
The 2022 Ferrari 812 Competizione starts at $598,567 (around Php 28.7 million), while the 812 Competizione A will carry a price tag of $694,459 (around Php 33.4 million). All 999 units of the 812 Competizione and 499 units of the 812 Competizione A have been spoken for, with deliveries expected to start on the second quarter of 2022 for the former and the first quarter of 2023 for the latter.
