Mazda Philippines has officially rolled out the updated CX-5 crossover for the local market. New to the 2024 model year are the Sport 2.0 and the Sport 2.5 AWD trims. These two will be joining the CX-5 AWD Turbo 2.5 which is the most powerful in the model’s variant lineup.

Exterior
Front and center on the updated CX-5 for 2024 is a new three-dimensional grille. It carries a more robust look, whilst still maintaining the elegant spirit of the brand thanks to the “floating look” it creates.

Its grille is then paired with sculpted front bumpers, a pair of sharp-looking LED headlamp clusters, and eye-catching LED daytime running lamps. According to Mazda, these were enhanced with new LED technologies that maximize vision at night. The LED headlamps also come with auto-leveling and high-beam control features.
From the side, the new CX-5 gets a sleek side portion. On the AWD Turbo trim, this is further enhanced thanks to body claddings color-keyed to the vehicle’s main body color. From this angle, one can also see that it rides on a set of 19-inch bright silver aluminum alloy wheels.
The new Sport AWD from the rear
For color options, the 2024 CX-5 may come in Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Polymetal Gray, Deep Crystal Blue, and Jet Black. Only the top-spec AWD Turbo gets access to Rhodium White Premium and Zircon Sand. The Sport variants meanwhile, get the exclusive Snowflake White Pearl color.
Interior
Step inside the 2024 CX-5 and you’ll be greeted by an interior designed to be comfortable while driver-centric.
It hosts a wealth of soft-touch surfaces, and all of its seats are wrapped in leather. On the Sport trims, the seats are made more visually appealing thanks to Orange contrast stitching. The top-spec variant meanwhile, gets Deep Red Nappa leather.
Inside the CX-5 Sport AWD
Setting one’s preferred position is also made easy thanks to a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. The front passenger meanwhile, gets a six-way power-adjustable seat.
For the rear, the updated crossover gets 40:20:40 split-folding seats which allows one to maximize its cargo space. A power tailgate provides more convenient access to the trunk, while a reversible cargo floor with a waterproof side makes it easier to store a variety of cargo.

For further occupant enjoyment and comfort, the 2024 CX-5 also gets a panoramic sunroof, automatic air-conditioning, an ample amount of cupholders, and plenty of USB charging ports. Tech & Safety
Handling on-board entertainment on the 2024 CX-5 is a floating-type eight-inch LCD screen. The said display comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is then linked to a 10-piece Bose sound system as standard. Topping up one’s smartphone aboard the CX-5 is then made easier thanks to a wireless charging pad.

Under the hood of the 2024 CX-5 is the Skyactive-G engine. For the Sport trims, it is available in a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated version which puts out 187 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque, and a smaller 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated version that can deliver 153 hp and 200 Nm of torque. The top-spec trim meanwhile, gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter mill that can output 249 hp and 434 Nm of torque.

All variants use Mazda’s Skyactiv-drive six-speed automatic gearbox. These come with sport mode, but only the mid-spec and the top-spec trims get all-wheel-drive. The entry-level Sport 2.0 meanwhile, is FWD only.
As standard, the AWD trims get an off-road traction assist system. Present across the lineup is a torque vectoring system and an engine idling stop system for better fuel efficiency.
Price
The 2024 Mazda CX-5 starts at Php 1,950,000 for the entry-level Sport 2.0. The mid-spec Sport AWD variant meanwhile, is priced at Php 2,050,000. Last but not least, the top-spec AWD Turbo retails at Php 2,430,000.
