Foton Thunder 2018 debuts in the Philippines with Blue Energy powertrain

Foton PH has formally released an all-new variant of its Thunder pickup truck – the Foton Thunder 2018 4x2. This trim exclusively comes with a new Euro 4-compliant Cummins turbo diesel mill mated to a new automatic gearbox.

Called “Blue Energy,” the new 2.8L SOHC ISF engine now features a more efficient intercooler/turbocharger as well as an upgraded exhaust-gas recirculation system responsible for burning fuel. Other than that, this engine is very environmentally-friendly thanks to diesel and particle oxidizing catalyst (DOC & POC) that convert CO and harmful gases into CO2 and water.

Capable of dishing out 165 PS and 365 Nm between 1,500 – 3,400 rpm, the power plant is potent enough for a variety of purposes. As mentioned above, the new automatic transmission is a 6-speed with manual select.

Apart from new heart, the Thunder 2018 is also fitted with a wide range of new equipment and features. Inside, it is fitted with a touchscreen infotainment system compatible with AM/FM, USB, Aux-in and SD card along with Bluetooth connectivity. A built-in iPod interface is also on tap to help you connect the device to this system.

Safety-wise, the pickup is very protective with a long list of standard features including:

• Dual SRS airbags
• ABS with EBD and Brake Assis
• Electronic Stability Control
• Traction Control
• Hill-Descent Control
• Hill-Hold Assist
• Reverse Parking Sensors

Other goodies consist of headlamps level adjuster, fog lamps, keyless entry with remote window control, steering-mounted audio controls and central locking.
