According to Porsche Vice President for Model Line 911 and 718 Frank Moser, this is the first time in the brand’s history that a road-legal 911 will be getting a hybrid drive system. As such, it was deemed necessary to spare no expense in testing this 911 hybrid model.

For this, Moser shared that the 911 Hybrid test mule was put through its paces in various climates and conditions, including stop-and-go traffic and curvy mountain roads. The company also tested the vehicle in freezing cold weather to scorching heat. The final test phases for the upcoming Porsche 911 Hybrid were in fact, held in the warm climes of Dubai.

As per Porsche, the 911 Hybrid handled all five million kilometers of development driving without a hitch. Plus, they made it run through the iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife where it managed to finish the 20.8 km-long circuit in just 7:16.934 minutes.

The aforementioned Nurburgring lap time is highly significant as the German carmaker says that the 911 Hybrid is 8.7 seconds faster than the corresponding version of the predecessor model. This was accomplished with a 911 Hybrid test mule that was equipped with an aero kit with a fixed rear wing, and bog standard road tires.

The brand did say though, that the upcoming model will have its world premiere on May 28, 2024, 15:00 CEST (9:00 p.m. Manila time). This momentous event will be broadcast in Porsche’s official newsroom, as well as on YouTube and LinkedIn.
