Volvo made music using XC60’s doors, hood, and more

The automaker tapped two musicians to make this work.

In today’s time when we have huge online platforms to showcase our creativity, we have seen how people continue to push the envelope for everyone’s amusement. Volvo has an entry into this space by creating a non-lyrical song featuring the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid.

Volvo gave music a shot with the XC60

The sounds were captured using the noise the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid makes with its power-adjustable seat, seat belt, turn signals, start/play button beep, hood, doors, among others. This song was created by the Swedish automaker in collaboration with musicians Andrew Huang and Dresage.

Andrew Huang is a Canadian YouTuber and music producer who has 2.27-million followers as of this writing. Huang is the ideal collaborator for the XC60 music video as he is fond of creating beats out of random objects. Other contents you can find on his channel include tips on music production and music theory.

Meanwhile, Dresage is a singer, producer, writer, and composer who currently has more than 10,000 YouTube subscribers. Dresage also posts her music on Spotify where she has 163,969 monthly listeners. Not all the sounds on the XC60 music video are raw as Huang and Dresage pitched the car noises to arrange melodies using a MIDI pad controller.

Helping produce the sounds is a Volvo XC60, which is the automaker’s entry into the luxury compact crossover market. In line with the brand’s plan to introduce an all-electric lineup by 2030, the model used in the music video comes with a plug-in hybrid system that can be charged externally using a dedicated charger.

For future Volvo electric vehicle (EV) owners, they can watch “The Sounds of the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid” music video in their cars via a dedicated YouTube video playback capability. The automaker partnered with Google to make it possible, which will be up only when the car is at a full stop for safety.
