Uber: “Request for a guest” available in over 30 countries

Now you can book an Uber for anybody via Uber’s new feature “Request for a guest”, especially if they do not have the app, or even if they do not have a smartphone.
Have you ever tried to book an Uber for another person? Say,
  • A loved one who has no patience to learn how the app works even he/she has one
  • A friend without a smartphone
  • Your officemates or relatives request for Uber, like airport pickups or whatnot
It was not easy sending each other all the logistics, but we did it anyway. From now on, when you request a ride in Uber for some else and set the pickup point to a location other than your current coordinates, Uber will automatically ask you if you are booking the ride for another person. If this is the case, you can pick from a list of all your contacts (boyfriend, girlfriend, officemates, relatives, boss, etc.) and set a destination, then request for their ride from your Uber app.

>>> Uber users will now be able to send snaps with their contacts during their ride on Uber. Wow! Click to find out.
For payment, you can select cash, which your friend or loved one will have to pay at the end of the trip, or it can easily be charged to the card on file.
Uber''s new feature - Request for a guest

From now on, when you request a ride in Uber for some else and set the pickup point to a location other than your current coordinates

Your friend or your loved one will receive a text message with the entire driver and car’s details including car model, estimated time of arrival, driver’s name, his contact details, plate number and even a link to follow the ride’s progress. So even without the app, elderly people like your grandmother/grandfather can contact the driver easily and vice versa.

>>> Uber’s Real-Time ID Check is able to cut down on fraud and help ensure riders that the right person is behind the wheel. Read our article for more information.

It’s worth taking note that Uber heard our plea and finally granted us our wish. The new function is available starting today in the Philippines and in over 30 countries. Time to update your app!
