Toyota Philippines is recalling a total of 2,756 combined units of select Avanza and Veloz models due to improper welding in the side impact beam inside the right front door. The affected Toyota Avanza models are 1,285 units while 1,471 units are for the Veloz.

TMP said that the Avanza and Veloz included in this specific recall are units produced from November 3, 2022 to November 24, 2022.

As mentioned earlier, the recall is due to improper welding in the side impact beam inside the right front door of the select Avanza and Veloz units. Toyota said that there is a possibility that the strength of the welding could be insufficient during a side impact collision. Moreover, the automaker explained that the side impact beam might not perform as designed, which could lead to excessive injury to the vehicle occupant.

Similar to the safety recall issued by Toyota PH for the Raize, Avanza, and Veloz, the car company will notify affected vehicle owners via an official notification letter. The affected vehicle owners will then be invited by authorized Toyota Dealers to install reinforcement bracket and additional welding will be added at the defective weld points on the side impact beams.
