Toyota Philippines shared that the front disc brake cylinder slide pin boot is the reason behind the safety recall for the select Raize, Avanza, and Veloz models. The affected units are those produced between September 2022 to December 2022. Below is a breakdown of the Toyota models affected by the recall.

Raize: 4,345 units produced from September 12, 2022 to December 7, 2022

Veloz: 3,511 units produced from September 12, 2022 to December 13, 2022

The numbers above show that the Toyota Raize has the most affected units with 4,345 followed by the Veloz and the Avanza. In total, the units affected in this specific recall are 10,975 models comprised of the Raize, Avanza, and Veloz.

Toyota said that the assembly tools at the brake caliper assembly line interfered with the slide pin boots during production, causing damage to the boots. The automaker further explained that if water enters the slide pin boots, it may lead to early wear of the brake pads due to rusting. As such, a recall is necessary to ensure the maximum efficiency of the brake pads.

TMP said that affected vehicle owners will be notified through an official notification letter, and will be invited by authorized Toyota Dealers to replace the front disc brake cylinder slide pin boot and if necessary, replace the brake cylinder mounting.
