Motor Image Pilipinas Inc. (MIP), the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, will be holding a series of test drive events that aim to highlight the brand’s autonomous vehicle safety technology.
Subaru Philippines' test drive event will kick off this week
Dubbed Subaru Advanced Technology Drives (SATD), MIP is inviting interested individuals to test drive its vehicles to learn more and to experience the EyeSight driver assist technology. Aside from highlighting the said tech, Subaru Philippines also wants participants to get more acquainted with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD).
The 2022 SATD will feature a driving course that will allow individuals to experience Subaru’s Four Core Technologies, which are the following: SAWD, Boxer Engine, Subaru Global platform, and the award-winning EyeSight tech.
The first of four legs of the said test drive event will start in Manila from September 22 to 25. It will also be making its way to Pampanga, then back to Manila, before heading to Davao.
The first leg of the 2022 SATD will be held at the Greenhills G-Strip Parking (corner of Connecticut and Ortigas) in San Juan City.
The Pampanga leg will be on October 7 to 9, while the second Manila staging will be from October 20 to 23. Davao, which will be the last stop, will be on November 25 to 27. The venue for the said legs is yet to be determined.
MIP is urging interested individuals to register early for each of the SATD legs. The car brand noted that the first 50 registrants will receive a special early bird gift when they visit the event booth. Interested individuals can register at this link.
Subaru Outback
The current Subaru EyeSight system features a set of dual-color cameras placed near the rearview mirror. Some of its ADAS include the pre-collision braking system, autonomous emergency steering, adaptive cruise control, lane centering control, among many others.
It was first introduced in Japan in May 2008. It initially used a single camera technology to provide driver assist features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Pre-Collision Braking. These detect not only cars but also pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. Subaru vehicles equipped with EyeSight have now exceeded five million global sales.
