The Alabang southbound exit toll plaza, beside the Alabang viaduct, will be closed starting midnight on February 20. Skyway management said that the southbound section is set to enter the advanced phase in terms of construction. As such, affected motorists are advised to take the following alternative routes:

  • Class 1 headed to Alabang or Alabang-Zapote Rd. may take Filinvest Exit Toll Plaza towards their destination.
  • Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles bound for Alabang, Putatan, and National Road may take the Susana Exit Toll Plaza, turn right at Susana Heights Ave., and turn either left or right on the National Road to their respective destinations.

SMC said that motorists can expect heavy traffic in the area due to the construction work that will include the installation of girders, coping beams, and pre-cast slabs. With this, SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon S. Ang said in a statement that the company is appealing for patience and understanding for the temporary inconvenience.

“We’re again appealing for patience and understanding from our motorists in the south and residents in the area, for any delays that they may experience, as we work to complete the Skyway Extension,” said Ang.

Ang added that once completed, motorists can expect a better traffic flow and seamless travel. Ang also shared that the northbound section of the Skyway Extension Project from Susana Heights exit of South Luzon Expressway to Sucat in Parañaque will open on March 30. The opening of the said project was supposed to be this February 2021. On the other hand, the southbound section of the Skyway Extension Project is said to open in June.

“There is no way of getting around this key stage in construction. We really have to do it. It will be a temporary inconvenience, but I promise you, the benefits--eliminating traffic and providing seamless travel--will be well worth it,” shared Ang.

The Skyway Extension project extends the elevated expressway from Skyway Main Line Toll Plaza in Sucat, Paranaque to Susana Heights at SLEX and back. It will provide motorists direct access to Skyway 1 and 2 as well as on the recently opened Skyway Stage 3.

The Skyway Stage 3 connects the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Skyway to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The Skyway Stage 3 is said to reduce travel time from SLEX to NLEX from around three hours to just 20 minutes. Moreover, it will only take you 15 minutes to reach Balintawak if you’re coming from Magallanes in Makati City.
