San Miguel tollways ready for 2023 Holy Week vehicle volume

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) said that all its expressways are ready for the expected vehicle exodus this Holy Week.

The company shared that it has made all necessary preparations regarding the anticipation of increased vehicle volume at all its expressways. SMC tollways include the following expressways: South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

Early this week, SMC has already increased its manpower at all its expressways. This is to help ensure efficient and safe travel for motorists heading out to the provinces this 2023 Holy Week. 

The company shared that mobile patrol units have been deployed at key locations, ready to assist motorists traversing the expressway. Additional ambulant tellers will also be positioned at major toll plazas to speed up payment, and vehicle flow. 

“Our operations teams are prepared for the rush of our kababayans leaving Metro Manila to spend the upcoming holidays with their loved ones in the provinces. We’ve made the necessary adjustments in our manpower deployment to ensure that traffic will flow smoothly along our carriageways,” SMC President and CEO Ramon S. Ang said 

Motorists are encouraged to have sufficient Autosweep RFID balance

Ang is also reminding motorists to check their Autosweep RFID accounts before heading out on the road. The SMC boss encourages motorists to ensure that their respective RFIDs have sufficient balance to avoid delays in toll plazas. 

“We encourage our motorists to make sure their Autosweep RFID accounts have sufficient load and to have their Autosweep cards ready in their vehicles, to avoid any delays. Our ambulant tellers are also equipped to scan cards for faster transactions, in case there is heavy build-up at the exits,” Ang shared.

Meanwhile, all roadworks and other activities at all SMC expressways have been suspended until April 10 (10 p.m.). This is to ensure that roadworks along the toll roads will not disrupt traffic flow this Holy Week. 

Skyway Stage 3

Motorists are also reminded to follow the speed limit along the SMC expressways. SMC’s at-grade expressways have a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h for Class 1 vehicles, and 80 km/h for Class 2 and 3 vehicles. Skyway Stage 3 and the NAIAX have a maximum speed limit of 60 km/h for safety reasons.
