This announcement from NLEX Corporation comes days after the NLEX – SLEX Connector Section 1’s inauguration on March 27, 2023.

NLEX Corporation President J. Luigi L. Bautista further added that the toll-free access will allow motorists to experience the added convenience when traveling over the new NLEX Connector Road. NLEX also added that its opening and its toll-free use are timely since more road users are expected on the upcoming Holy Week.

A further announcement will be made in due course regarding the new road’s actual toll rates. NLEX Corp. added that it will be making an announcement as to when the toll-free access will end. The NLEX management did remind prospective users of the new road that speed limits and road rules and regulations will be strictly followed.

Specifically, trucks are required to stay within a 60 km/h speed limit, while cars, SUVs, and buses are required to follow the 80 km/h speed limit. Likewise, only motorcycles that have a displacement of 400cc and above are allowed to enter the new road.

Note that the 5.15-kilometer-long NLEX - SLEX Connector Section 1 is part of a larger expressway project spanning 8 kilometers. The road’s Section 1 in particular, already features entry and exit ramps located on the C3 Road and España in the City of Manila.

Costing a total of Php 23 billion, the NLEX - SLEX Connector project seamlessly links the main highway thoroughfares from the north of Metro Manila down to the south. It is also said to provide an economic boost since it also allows for smoother travel for goods and cargo, and as an alternate route for truckers who want to avoid the congested urban areas around Caloocan and Manila City.
