The 110-meter long Parklinks Bridge is now open for those traveling between Quezon City and Pasig City

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Atty. Romano Artes graced the opening of the structure last Saturday, December 3. Local government officials were also present, including Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

The structure is a cable-stayed bridge spanning 110 meters long and 25 meters wide, featuring an overhead metal arch measuring 40 meters in height. It supports the road with 20 suspended steel cables arranged in an asymmetrical pattern. Designed by Systra Philippines and Systra Korea, the bridge integrates dedicated lanes for both pedestrians and bikers.

Aside from serving as an architectural showpiece, Parklinks Bridge serves as a new route for motorists traveling from Pasig City to Quezon City and vice versa. This is expected to ease vehicular traffic in the northeast and eastern portions of Metro Manila.

In addition, Parklinks Bridge also hosts the ‘Bridge of Lights’ exhibition, which is a spectacle of lights and sounds that spectators can view at night. The show is held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and runs until January 7, 2023.

The structure will enable the public to access Parklinks Estates, a 35-hectare mixed-use property said to be the biggest development situated along C5 road and touted as the greenest urban estate in Metro Manila, with 50 percent of the land area dedicated to open spaces.

Parklinks features a 3-hectare central park including an esplanade, river park terraces, and riparian gardens along with running and bike trails. It will be accessible via C5, Amang Rodriguez Avenue, and Ortigas Avenue. Future developments could see the property being linked to neighboring areas such as Circulo Verde and Metropoli.
