These are located within Ayala malls and estates.

In support of the auto industry’s shift toward electrification, property developer Ayala Land on Thursday launched 20 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout Luzon, the country’s largest island.

This follows the initial charging stations for electric mass transport vehicles that Ayala installed in January this year

“This is a milestone for us in Ayala Land. We are launching over 20 electric vehicle fast charging stations across seven cities in Luzon,” said Ayala Land President & Chief Executive Officer Bernard Vincent Dy. “This is the largest roll-out yet of EV charging stations in the country.”

The stations have either 22-kilowatt alternating current (AC) or 60-kilowatt direct current (DC) fast chargers to accommodate a range of EV types currently in use, compatible with the CCS Type 2 charging port. According to Ayala, the initial investment for the project amounted to Php 6 billion.

Kia EV6

The occasion was also an opportunity for Ayala to showcase the Kia EV6 electric crossover

Featured front and center in the charging station rollout is the Kia EV6 electric crossover, which Ayala says is being used as a real-world demonstration of how a charging ecosystem is already in place for EVs in the Philippines. Ayala’s automotive arm, AC Motors, is the authorized distributor of Kia vehicles in the Philippines.

A nationwide EV charging infrastructure is one of the requirements mandated by the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), which was recently enacted into law.

The electric chargers are installed in various offices and malls managed by Ayala Land:

  • Baguio Technohub
  • Tower 2 Ayala Triangle Gardens
  • Solaris One
  • One Ayala Avenue Carousel
  • Nuvali
  • Vertis North
  • Seda BGC
  • Vermosa
  • Circuit Makati
  • Greenbelt
  • Glorietta
  • Alabang Town Center
  • Trinoma
  • Laguna Technohub

While the use of the charging stations is currently offered to owners of electric cars for free, there are reportedly plans to eventually offer cashless payment options through Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and GCash.

According to Ayala, the EV charging station project is in line with its commitment to carbon neutrality, while aligning with the global shift toward EVs. “We are expanding this program to more key locations, energizing sustainable transport faster and further in the years to come,” Dy added.
