Traffic will be heavier than usual this holiday season.

In preparation for the usual Christmas rush traffic, the North Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX Corp.) will be deploying a total of 1,000 personnel. This is a continuation of the long-running “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program. It will then be effective from December 23, 2022 to January 3, 2023.

The 1,000 personnel mentioned above will consist of Patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, and toll lane personnel. Likewise, emergency medical services as well as incident response teams will be on standby.

The said personnel will man strategic areas, and along areas where traffic is projected to be high of volume. These areas that NLEX identified include the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). Specifically, traffic management teams will be keeping an out on Balintawak, Mindanao, Valenzuela (Paso de Blas), Meycauayan, Marilao, Bocaue, Sta. Ria, Pulilan, San Simon, San Fernando, Clark South, Tarlac, Tipo, as well as along the Subic Freeport Expressway.

Road works and the like will also be suspended on NLEX and SCTEX unless crucial safety repairs concerning safety are necessary. The only exception to this is the ongoing repairs for the Candaba Viaduct.

To add more convenience for travelers, NLEX Corp. also announced that towing to the nearest expressway exit is free from December 23, 6:00 a.m. to December 26, 6: a.m. This is applicable to Class 1 or light vehicles.

NLEX management is also reminding motorists who are still using cash for toll payments to finally switch to RFIDs as this might help alleviate further travel delays. Furthermore, current RFID users are urged to make sure that their accounts are loaded up. Those with faulty RFID stickers are also directed to visit any of the RFID installation sites listed on the EasyTrip official website.

Last but not least, all motorists are reminded to check their vehicle’s condition before actually heading out. A self-check to see if one is fit to drive or not is also advisable.
