Nissan NV350 Urvan Premium 2018 to arrive in our country next month

An automatic variant of the Nissan NV350 Urvan Premium 2018 will hit the Philippine market this November.

As announced last month, Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) will launch a new variant of the Nissan NV350 Urvan Premium 2018 with an automatic gearbox. According to the latest car news, the updated version will officially hit the Philippine market next month. Additionally, the aforementioned van also gets an update on its body and standard.

The Urvan Premium made its official debut in Japan three months ago with the nameplate as the NV350 Caravan. And the upcoming arrival of the van promises to bring sweet surprise for Filipino car lovers.

Still, the Japanese manufacturer hasn’t disclosed full information about the PH-specs version but surely it will be a left-hand drive variant of the NV350 Caravan.

The Nissan NV350 Urvan Premium 2018 exterior is adorned with a stronger and more outstanding “V-motion” grille. At the front, the van also gets refreshed on its bumper, foglight system and LED headlights. The rear is now equipped with new tail lights, while the wheels wear a new wrap. Other parts remain unchanged.

Mr. Ramesh Narasimhan, NPI President and Managing director also said that the new van would be getting an update in its standard equipment. Though, he didn’t reveal exact features to be included in the standard package. It is expected that the van will be loaded with an automatic climate control or a sound and entertainment system or even more safety features.

Coming to the hottest news we have mentioned before, the NV350 Urvan Premium will come equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. In the Japanese market, the van runs with a 2.5L liter turbodiesel engine and also offers two options in gas engine including 2.0L and 2.5L unit. In the Philippines, it is likely that there won't be gas options. Speaking of the diesel, the large van will be empowered by same diesel engine as the current model's which is capable of dishing out 127 hp and 356 Nm of torque.

According to Narasimhan, the price of the Nissan NV350 Urvan Premium 2018 automatic variant will be slightly increased compared to the manual version.

The Nissan NV350 Urvan 2024 is a rear-wheel-drive van for the Philippines market. Nissan PH currently offers seven variants for the said model and the Nissan NV350 Urvan Philippines price range from Php 1,260,000 to Php 2,110,000. 

Under the hood of the Urvan is a 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine making up to 127 horsepower and 356 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to its rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission depending on the variant. 

Size-wise, the top-spec Urvan has a length of 5,230mm, a width of 1,880mm, and a height of 2,285mm. Meanwhile, the lower trims are a bit more compact with a length of 5,080mm, a width of 1,695mm. All do come with a wheelbase length of 2,940mm and a ground clearance of 195mm. 

Locally, the Urvan competes against the likes of the Toyota Hiace, Hyundai Grand Starex, Maxus V80, Foton Transvan, among others. 

 

Nissan NV350 Urvan Launch

The Nissan NV350 was unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show as a replacement for the legendary Nissan Caravan. A year later, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd made it available in the global market.

Locally, this passenger vehicle was launched in June 2015 and was named the Nissan NV350 Urvan. It was offered in five models: a super base, three-seater cargo, an 18-seater VX, a 15-seater shuttle, a 12-seater Escapade, and a high-end 10-seater.

In October 2017, the van’s fifth generation was unveiled with updated looks and modern features.

The current Nissan NV350 Urvan received a well-deserved update that made it more pleasing on the road. Its front is redesigned with the automobile company’s innovative V-Motion grille. It is paired with wide halogen multi-reflector headlamps that provide efficient lighting at night. The front bumpers have sharper corners, giving the vehicle’s fascia a serious vibe. 

The NV350 Urvan’s body is still boxy but character lines and curves make it look updated. It features a sliding side door that opens wide for easy boarding and exiting.

The aura inside the NV350 Urvan 2024 is subtle but offers the utmost comfort. Its interior is gray with tough plastic materials. The seats of the shuttle variant come with standard fabric covers while top models are fitted with premium material.

As the Nissan automobile is known to deliver one of the most efficient air conditioning systems in the industry, the Nissan NV350 Urvan is fitted with 360-degree air vents.  The premium variant gets 14 air vents while standard models are built with 12.

Technology & Safety Features

A 2-DIN single in-dash stereo system provides entertainment inside this sturdy van. It is equipped with a tuner, CD, and AUX port. Premium models are fitted with four speakers while the shuttle variants are built with two. Power locks and power are standard on all variants.

In terms of safety, both shuttle and premium variants are equipped with dual airbags on the front. The driver and front passenger seats come with three-point seatbelts while the remaining rows are fitted with a two-point lap belt.

Platform & Chassis

At the front, this light commercial vehicle is fitted with a torsion bar suspension paired with a stabilizer. For the rear suspension, the NV350 Urvan is built with a rigid axle with a spring. Braking is assisted by disc brakes at the front and leading and trailing drum brakes at the rear.

Engine & Drivetrain

The NV350 Urvan currently runs using a 2.5-liter YD25DDTi Inline-four diesel engine that promises 127 hp with 356 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission.

In the Philippines market, the Nissan Urvan comes in six different color options. These include Alpine White, Pearl White, Brillant Silver, Gun Metallic, Topaz Brown, and Granite Black. 

Size-wise, the Nissan Urvan Philippines is largely on-par against its rivals. It even trumps some more expensive models in terms of seating capacity due to its 18-seater trims. Then again, the Urvan is an old platform with an aging interior. As such, it currently sits in the middle of the Philippine-spec van pack when it comes to on-board amenities and safety features.
