It definitely looks sharper than the current model.

Way ahead of its global debut, several websites including drive.com.au have shown the world one possible way as to how could the next-generation 2023 Honda CR-V will look like.

If this is indeed the upcoming sixth-gen Honda CR-V, then it looks like it will be assuming the same design direction as the all-new Honda Civic, the new North America-spec HR-V, and many other contemporary Honda models.

This particular design features a pair of sharp-looking headlamps, a more sculpted-looking hood, and fewer bulges on the front bumper. It also comes with a sizable grille without the prominent grille trim piece on the current version, and it has a larger lower mesh intake as well.

Overall though, it largely retains the conservative proportions of the model that it will be replacing. It is also highly likely that it will be utilizing the same front-wheel-drive platform currently in use by many Honda models including the Honda Civic hatchback.

As for details regarding its side and rear, we can’t share our thoughts on that since the patent pictures are only for the vehicle’s front quarter. Details are also scarce when it comes to the next-gen CR-V's powertrains, but many are reporting that it might retain the current engine lineup, and it might also be getting a hybrid powertrain.

A specific date for the launch is also yet to be officially announced by Honda. That said, we can take all that we’ve said above with a grain of salt, and let’s just wait for more concrete information from the said brand.

Currently, the Honda CR-V for the Philippine market has three existing variants. These are the CR-V S 2.0 CVT gasoline, CR-V S 1.6 AT diesel, and the CR-V SX 1.6 AWD AT diesel. Prices for these range from Php 1,678,000 to Php 2,158,000. Only the diesel variants can seat up to seven.

Honda CR-V

The 2024 Honda CR-V is a midsize crossover SUV. For the Philippine market, it has three variants: the V Turbo CVT, VX Turbo CVT, and the RS e:HEV (hybrid) e-CVT.

The latest version of this Honda model has two different engine options. For the top-spec hybrid trim, it uses a 2.0-liter gasoline four-banger paired with a dual motor and lithium-ion battery. The combustion component alone produces up to 145 horsepower and 183 Nm of torque. The electric-powered component meanwhile, can churn out 181 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

Aboard the V and VX trims meanwhile is a 1.5-liter inline-4 engine that can churn out 187 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.

Only the VX gets all-wheel-drive, while the rest are front-wheel-drive. All trims then use a continuously variable transmission (CVT), but the one on the hybrid trim is an electronic CVT (e-CVT).

In terms of dimensions, the all-new CR-V is 4,691mm long, 1,866mm wide, and 1,681mm (1,691mm for VX) in height. Both the hybrid and the V’s wheelbase then spans 2,701mm (2,700mm for VX).

Locally, the Honda CR-V competes against the likes of the Mazda CX-9, Cherry Tiggo 8 Pro, Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, Peugeot 5008, etc.
