The pickup gets a more contemporary finish.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) may be busy with the local launch of the 2023 Xpander facelift, but the car brand still finds ways to improve its other models. The Mitsubishi Strada is the latest to receive an update as the model’s GLS line gets a design change.

Most of the updates are centered around integrating a blacked-out finish on the exterior, replacing the chrome bits of the outgoing version. This includes the radiator grille, front under garnish, headlight garnish, door mirror, step board, outer handles, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear tailgate handle, and step bumper.

MMPC said that it wants the Strada to look more contemporary and tougher with the updates. Despite not having changes on other areas of the truck including the powertrain, the Japanese marque boasts that the model can still deliver whether on-roads or off-roads.

Under the hood is still a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel engine that is capable of generating 179 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. The Strada GLS MT uses a 6-speed manual transmission, while the Strada GLS AT comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Moreover, the Strada GLS 4WD gets to benefit from the Easy Select 4WD system which offers 2H (2WD High Range), 4H (4WD High Range), and 4LLc (4WD Low Range with Locked Center Differential). With these drivetrain options, the truck can easily adapt to various road conditions for a safer and more stable ride.

“We wanted to re-introduce the Strada’s GLS series with a stronger and more powerful look that appeal across a wider variety of buyers. And although the changes are just on the ‘outer skin,’ customers can look forward to its robust and reliable DNA that has been known for over 40 years since this nameplate was introduced,” said MMPC President and CEO Takeshi Hara.
