It is an open secret that Mitsubishi Motors will introduce an all-new subcompact crossover model developed specifically for the ASEAN region. Ahead of its debut next month, the Japanese automaker released two teaser videos to let us know what we can expect from the model.
A new ASEAN-developed crossover is coming
One of the highlighted new features is the Dynamic Sound, a sound system created in collaboration with Yamaha Corporation. It is said to deliver a premium and immersive sound experience that should make driving even more exciting.
The Mitsubishi crossover will come with a Yamaha sound system
The automaker specifically fitted the Yamaha speakers to work optimally with the acoustic characteristics of the crossover. The system adjusts not only the volume to match vehicle speed but also the sound quality itself, allowing it to deliver "lively bass, clear mid, and high tones" even when driving on rough roads.
Another new feature is the Wet mode, a first for the Mitsubishi brand. The Wet Mode is perfect in ASEAN countries like the Philippines as roads can be slippery during the rainy season. Moreover, the model boasts 222mm of ground clearance.
The new Mitsubishi model will arrive next month
The upcoming crossover is also equipped with three other drive modes, namely Normal, Gravel, and Mud. Mitsubishi said the drive modes are enabled by the Active Yaw Control (AYC), a feature present in the Xpander Cross. It improves controllability by adjusting the driving force on the front left and right wheels.
"In developing the all-new compact SUV, we enhanced road performance through repeated testing in Japan on a course that mirrored the road conditions of the ASEAN region, as well as thorough, extensive road testing in the region itself," said Mitsubishi Motors Chief Product Specialist Masahiro Ito.
"We developed the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium with special attention to high-quality sound, so that customers who come on board can enjoy an exciting driving experience. This all-new is full of Mitsubishi Motors-ness and attractions benefitting a Mitsubishi vehicle, so please look forward to the launch," added Ito.
Mitsubishi will officially debut the new small crossover at the 30th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show happening on August 10, 2023. Last month, the automaker previewed to Filipinos what the vehicle could look like with the XFC Concept displayed at the Newport Mall in Pasay City.
