Like any other charging station at SM malls, EV and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners can charge their electrified cars for free. This offers flexibility for mall-goers as they can leave their electrified cars charging while shopping.

Of note, all compatible electrified cars can utilize the charging station regardless of brand and model.

The new charging station is equipped with a Type 2 AC charger, which should provide standard charging speed to compatible electrified cars.

In HMPH’s lineup, the company has two EVs that can utilize the charging stations – the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 6.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an all-electric compact crossover slotted below the Ioniq 6. Available in two variants, the Standard Range offers 384 km of range on a single charge, while the top-spec Long Range variant boasts a range of 451 km.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 can run as far as 545 km on a single charge. It is made possible with an aerodynamic shape that boasts a low drag coefficient of 0.21. This makes the Ioniq 6 at par with other aerodynamic rivals such as the Porsche Taycan.

Since the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 are developed with an 800-volt EV architecture, they can be charged using a fast DC charger. Using this type of charger, both EVs can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 owners can also use the charge of their EVs’ battery as a mobile power source through the Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) functionality.

As mentioned earlier, the new charging hub station at SM Lanang is just one of the many in partnership with SM Supermall. The other five stations are situated at SM Mall of Asia, The Podium, SM Fairview, SM City Clark, and SM City Cebu.

HMPH will now head to Cebu (September 29 to October 1) and Pampanga (October 27 to 29) for its Hyundai Mobility Experience, a nationwide tour that showcases the brand’s latest offerings. It offers test driving opportunities with discount vouchers, as well as highlights a cafe powered by the Ioniq 5.
