Hyundai Philippines breaks ground for new dealership in Talisay, Cebu

This facility is also an EV outlet and it will open in 2024. 

Hyundai Motor Phiilippines, Inc. (HMPH) continues its mission to expand its presence in the country by officially holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its upcoming Talisay City Dealership in Cebu last August 11, 2023.

Present during the event were HMPH President Dong Wook Lee, HMPH Managing Director Cecil Capacete, Gateway Motors Group Executive Vice President Michael Goho, Corporate Secretary Estrella Goho, and the Gateway Motors Group Hyundai Brand Head Glenn Teves. 

Established in partnership with the Gateway Motors Group, the new Hyundai Talisay outlet will open its doors by the fourth quarter of 2024. It will count as one of the brand’s electric vehicle (EV) outlets, and it will be able to cater to those wanting to get the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 6. These two Hyundai EVs are the back-to-back winners of the World Car of The Year in 2022 and 2023 respectively. 

According to Hyundai, the Talisay dealership is strategic as it serves as Cebu’s residential and trading center. Cebu in turn, is the main hub for the Visayas region when it comes to commerce, education, tourism, and transportation. 

Lee Added that HMPH is keen on serving both new and old customers in this developing region. He also said that he is thankful to the Gateway Motors Group for sharing HMPH’s vision for sustainable and innovative mobility.

The new dealership will likewise feature the Hyundai Global Dealership Space Identity (GDSI) 2.0 design. This same look will also be featured in the upcoming HMPH facility in Bacoor, Cavite which in turn will open its doors in the second quarter of 2024. For those unaware, this design dictates an open showroom with floor-to-ceiling glass and other modern architectural designs. 

As a side note, the Gateway Motors Group is a Cebu-based company and is one of the largest multi-brand dealership entities in the country. Currently, it has a total of 106 dealerships nationwide, and it handles a total of 21 car brands including Hyundai. The first Hyundai dealership under Gateway Group is Hyundai Makati.

In the local market, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc., under the leadership of Lee Dong-Wook now sells Hyundai models locally as of 2022.  

The brand’s lineup consists of the new crossovers which includes the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Creta. Under the MPV category, the Korean marque then has the new Staria model. The most affordable model in the local Hyundai lineup is the Creta's GL variant, which is priced at Php 998,000. The most expensive meanwhile is the Santa Fe, which retails at Php 2,420,000.
