Hyundai has been on a tear when it comes to automotive design. One of the most-awaited Hyundai concepts, the N Vision 74, will reportedly bring its picture-perfect design to life this month.
N Vision 74
In a report by Money Today, Hyundai has given the N Vision 74 the green light for production. It was being used as a “rolling lab” test bed for bolstering Hyundai’s N performance division when it was introduced at the N Day 2022 in South Korea.
The Hyundai N Vision 74 is one of the Korean automaker’s two non-internal combustion engine (ICE) high-performance cars. While the pre-production N Vision 74 boasts a hydrogen powertrain, the other performance-oriented car, the RN22e, gets an electrified propulsion system.
Under the hood of the pre-production-spec N Vision 74 is a hydrogen fuel-cell hybrid system capable of generating 670 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. It comes with a driving range of up to 600 km, with the top speed rated at 250 km/h.
1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe concept
As for the design, the vehicle brings an unmistakable retro-futurism design inspired by the Hyundai Pony Coupe concept unveiled at the 1974 Turin Motor Show. It is also the concept car that influenced the iconic design of the DeLorean DMC 12, which was the star of the movie “Back to the Future.”
Fabrizio Giugiaro is appointed to lead the design team for the production model. He is the son of Giorgetto Giugiaro, who was responsible for designing the original Hyundai Pony concept.
While the 1974 concept didn’t make it into the production line, the new N Vision 74 will revive the nameplate with not only appealing retro styling but also eco-friendly benefits. The automaker said that the upcoming vehicle is a product of its commitment to delivering tailpipe zero-emission yet still fun-to-drive cars.
The N Vision 7 could be coming to life soon
Hyundai will reportedly reveal the N Vision 74 production version on May 27, 2023.
