Looks like this boxy EV can go anywhere.

The Scottish electric vehicle (EV) startup Munro launched the MK_1 SUV a year ago. Fast forward to 2023, the company rolled out the MK_1 Pick-up, an equally rugged and off-road capable EV equipped with a cargo bed.

Just like the MK_1 SUV, the simply named MK_1 Pick-up assumes a boxy body shape with generous approach and departure angles due to its short overhangs. Its front end then gets a flat fascia with a four-piece LED headlight cluster. Below that is an off-road-ready steel front bumper.

The side of this EV pickup truck is kitted out with tube-style sidesteps. It then gets off-road beadlock wheels, wrapped in all-terrain tires. The rear likewise goes on the simple side, with a square-shaped access latch to the bed, flanked by two circular LED taillight clusters on each side.

Just like the MK_1 SUV, the pickup truck version may come with 220 kW or 280 kW electric motors. These can then be paired to a 61 kWh or 82 kWh battery pack. The latter provides this boxy pickup truck EV with a range of 306 kilometers. If plugged into a 100kW charger, the MK_1 Pickup’s 82 kWh battery pack can be charged from 15 to 80 percent in just 36 minutes.

In its most powerful form, the MK_1 Pick-up can output 375 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. That’s enough to lug around 1,050 kilograms of cargo and tow up to 3,500 kg. Optimum off-road performance for Munro’s pickup truck EV is then provided by a two-speed transfer case and a locking differential. All trims also get a mechanical four-wheel-drive system.

With regards to pricing, the MK_1 Pick-up truck starts at 49,995 pound sterling. At current exchange rates, that’s roughly equivalent to Php 3.4 million. That said, Munro could be positioning it as an EV alternative to the slightly more expensive Jeep Gladiator, which starts at Php 4.890 million in the Philippine market.
