Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia has started exporting the all-new XForce subcompact crossover SUV. A commemorative ceremony was held at Tanjung Priok Port, which is around 10 kilometers north of Jakarta.
Mitsubishi XForce units up for export
The first XForce shipment will head to Vietnam, and Mitsubishi Motors noted that the said five-seater subcompact crossover will be gradually exported to other ASEAN countries such as the Philippines. The XForce is also set to be exported in South Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East, and Africa.
“We are very proud to be exporting from our production base in Indonesia. We will continue to contribute to the Indonesian economy by exporting to various regions, and we hope to contribute to the development of the Indonesian automobile industry,” said Mitsubishi Motors Corporation president and CEO Takao Kato.
The XForce is produced in Indonesia
This news further reinforces the confirmation made by Mitsubishi Philippines regarding the XForce’s arrival in the local market in June 2024. As previously reported, the XForce’s upcoming Philippine launch will allow Mitsubishi PH to have a proper challenger in the five-seater subcompact crossover segment.
Mitsubishi Philippines has been absent from the local subcompact crossover segment since the discontinuation of the ASX back in 2016. But, that is about to change when the XForce finally arrives in the country as Mitsubishi will have a challenger to vehicles such as the Toyota Raize, Toyota Yaris Cross, Hyundai Creta, and Honda HR-V, among others.
The pricing, variants, and full specs of the PH-bound XForce have yet to be shared by Mitsubishi PH. But, the car brand shared that the XForce’s sticker price will be “affordable.”
Mitsubishi XForce
The Mitsubishi XForce debuted during the 30th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show last August 2023. The car brand said that the demand for the XForce has been high in Indonesia where the said vehicle is produced and manufactured.
It is powered by a 1.5-liter MIVEC gasoline engine that delivers 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. The engine sends power exclusively to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Of note, the top-of-the-line Mitsubishi XForce variant in Indonesia comes with four drive modes: Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud.
