The automaker aims to introduce the new design language next month.

Mini is one of the automakers that push sustainability in the industry. The latest initiative of the British automaker is translating its electrification efforts into the design of its future models.

New Charismatic Simplicity

We can still expect to see the familiar design the Mini brand is known for since its introduction in 1959. But moving forward, the future models will be integrated with a new design language called Charismatic Simplicity, as well as sustainable materials to advance its eco-friendly campaign.

“Purely electrically powered models from Mini gave us a unique opportunity to rethink our design. At the same time, we retain the attention to detail, sense of tradition, passion for innovation that Mini is renowned for,” said Mini Head of Design Oliver Heilmer.

Inside, Mini said that it will refrain from using leather materials and chrome components. Instead, future Mini models will be designed with raw, natural, and recycled materials, without compromising quality. The British automaker added that ecological footprint has always been part of its brand but is now further highlighted as the industry is shifting towards electrification.

The future generation of the Mini 3-door will be embedded with the core of the brand. Moreover, the brand will introduce a new and electrified crossover model which will provide the first full preview of the new design language. It is slated to be unveiled at the end of July 2022.

“The future of Mini design is based on the courage and determination to shape change and stamp a distinctive and inimitable profile on the brand,” said Heilmer. “This also includes a range of materials with a relentless focus on sustainability.”

While the new design campaign is intended for future Minis, the automaker has rolled out the Recharged Project to bring old models moving forward as well. The project allows classic Mini cars to be converted into electric vehicles (EVs) by replacing their international combustion engines (ICEs) with a new electrified powertrain.
