The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), MG’s official distributor in the country, sold 6,343 units in 2021, translating to an 85 percent sales growth. This feat is marked as MG Philippines’ best sales performance in its three years of competing in the local market.

Two of the top contributors of MG Philippines are the MG 5 and MG ZS. The MG 5 managed to sell 2,013 units in the market of small and economical cars. Meanwhile, the MG ZS delivered 4,158 units last year, making it the British-bred automaker’s best-selling model in 2021.
“We approached 2021 confident with MG, with its strong British heritage and superior product portfolio, would resonate with an even wider Filipino audience considering the increasing mobility requirements brought about by the current circumstances,” said TCCCI President and CEO Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla.
Coming in second in the sales ranking is the MG 5
Perhaps one of the reasons why the MG ZS continues to stay at the top is the company's initiative to improve its subcompact crossover entry. Last October 2021, MG Philippines brought in the ZST Trophy, featuring a sharper-looking exterior design and a new 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.
As a result, the MG ZS registered a 117 percent sales increase as compared to its year-to-date (YTD) sales figures in 2020. Other models that are offered in the local lineup include the sporty MG 6 compact sedan and RX5 compact crossover which is the company’s largest offering as of this writing.

Aside from the distribution of its vehicles, MG Philippines has been busy making its presence known in the country. Some of the efforts include supporting Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and dealer expansion. With a strong finish in 2021, the company expressed its excitement in unfolding its plans for this year.
“This 2022, MG Philippines is excited to share that we will have two dynamic product launches in the first semester of 2022 that will expectedly delight the local motoring public. These all-new models will participate in competitive vehicle segments and are expected to exponentially increase the brand appreciation and sales of MG,” added Atty. Arcilla.

The MG ZS 2023 is a 5-seater subcompact crossover that is available in the Philippines in four variants. MG ZS 2023 Philippines price is from Php 848,888 to Php 1,198,888. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making 112 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the flagship ZS-T gets a 1.3-liter inline-3 turbocharged gasoline engine good for 109 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque. Included in the gearbox options are 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic, and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
In terms of size, the ZS spans 4,314 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width, and 1,648 mm in height, with a wheelbase rated at 2,585 mm. In the local market, this British-bred subcompact crossover competes against the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mazda CX-3, and Geely Coolray.
