MG Philippines, which operates under the umbrella of SAIC Motor Philippines, has previewed the MG One compact crossover. According to the company, it will be launched in the first half of 2024 as a smaller option to the currently available MG HS.
The 2024 MG One
With this being a preview though, no specs for the MG One have been revealed just yet. The company has also been mum about the crossover’s pricing and exact launch date. So for now, let's see what is this crossover like in the metal.
Appearance-wise, this upcoming MG model has a striking design that makes it stand out even among its MG crossover siblings. Key among these is a huge front grille which is topped by a pair of sharp LED headlamps.
MG One from the rear
From the sides, this crossover gets an ample amount of character lines with its rear quarter sporting a flared look. It also gets black plastic claddings like most crossovers in the market right now, whereas its rear is kitted out with rounded triangle LED taillights, and a noticeable roof-mounted spoiler.
Step inside this upcoming crossover and one will see that it gets a clean-looking dashboard with a minimalist design. This section, however, is dominated by a large central touchscreen which is cleanly integrated into its gauge cluster. The driver meanwhile, is provided with a stylish flat-bottom steering wheel, and a center console that appears to have been ergonomically optimized for the one piloting the ride.
Inside the upcoming MG crossover
A full feature list for the Philippine-spec MG One is not yet available, but note that the higher-grade versions sold in the Middle East offer a sunroof, electronic-adjustable front seats, a two-tone interior, as well as a wide array of advanced driver-assist features. The latter includes technologies such as blind-spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, and lane departure warning, among others.
For now, the company is yet to share powertrain specifications for the Philippine-spec MG One. But if we reference the foreign market versions, it uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that can output 181 horsepower and 285 Nm of torque. The said engine is then paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Besides the MG One, SAIC Motor PH also showed off the Cyberster two-seater fully electric sports car. According to the company, this gorgeous roadster and the sporty-looking MG One are two out of the eight new models it will be launching by 2025.
