Team Mercedes set to debut new car

On Valentine’s day, team Mercedes is scheduled to debut Lewis Hamilton’s new chariot through an initial shakedown run set to take place at the Silverstone circuit.

According to Mercedes, this shakedown run will be done in private. Following that, they are then set to participate in the first of two pre-season tests in Barcelona on February 19. The Australian Grand Prix, in turn, is scheduled to open on March 15 at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne.

For the past six years, the Britain Based Mercedes F1 team has won both the constructor’s championships and the driver’s championships. This time around, however, many people are saying that they might be facing hurdles in the form of their rivals; Ferrari and Red Bull.

As for the team’s lineup, they currently have the same drivers as with last season; Valtteri Bottas and of course, Lewis Hamilton.

If this new car, as well as the entire Mercedes team, keeps being consistent, then Hamilton himself might as well be on the way to his seventh championship, something that was done by the legendary Michael Schumacher. Also, note that Schumacher had retired with an astounding 91 career wins whilst Hamilton is already at 84.

The car itself

Recently, James Allison revealed that Mercedes has been working on a 2020 Mercedes F1 car since 2018. Specifically, it was conceived during the closing days of the 2018 Formula 1 season.

As of now, however, not much is yet known about the new car’s specifications, but we’re quite sure that it has more power than the F1 W10 EQ Power+. Why? Well Hamilton himself had said in a statement last year that the new 2020 F1 car should have more in the way of power and less in the way of drag.
