LTO extends registration validity of plate numbers ending in 5, 6, and 7 

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has once again extended the validity of registrations for motor vehicles. For those with plate numbers ending in 5 and 6, their validity has been extended until September 30, 2021. In turn, cars with plate numbers ending with 7 will have their registration validity prolonged until October 31, 2021.

While not explicitly stated in the announcement, the said extension might have something to do with the last enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) that was put in place in Metro Manila and other parts of the country. All LTO branches in ECQ areas were closed from August 6 to 20, 2021.

Also note that before the latest string of extensions, the LTO also extended the vehicle registration of cars with plate numbers ending in 6 and 7 until August 31, and September 30, respectively. But, the LTO has extended the registration validity yet again. 

That said, the new extension might give ample time for motorists who have missed the window of opportunity for registering their cars due to the said ECQ. 

In addition to those extensions, be aware that the validity of cars with plates ending in 8 was also extended until October 31, 2021. Those with plate numbers ending with 9, also had their registration validity extended until November 30, 2021. 

If your car's registration expired during the last ECQ, then you can somewhat breath easy now

Moreover, the validity of driver’s licenses, student permits, and conductor’s licenses were also extended until November 30, 2021. These are for the ones that expired or will expire from August 1 to September 30, including those that lost their validity during the previous ECQ. 

And as usual, the said agency is reminding their clients to closely follow existing health and safety protocols when visiting any of their branches. And for those who continue to ask if LTO branches are operational or not, then be aware that they are now open.
