More trucks to deal with the country’s robust e-commerce market.

Philippines logistics giant J&T Express has expanded its fleet with the aid of Hino Motors Philippines Corporation (HMP). The cargo company found this necessary to keep up with the growing demand for last-mile delivery services, which in turn comes from the country’s robust e-commerce market.

More specifically, J&T Express has recently acquired more than a hundred Hino truck units. These are comprised of various Hino truck models including the 300 Series 916 and 616 4x2 six-wheeler models, the larger Hino 500 Series 1625 4x2 six-wheeler, and the 2629 6x2 10-wheeler model. These new additions thus expand J&T Express’ existing fleet to almost 500 units.

To finalize the handover, a signing ceremony was held at the Hino Philippines headquarters in Laguna last February 16. This also marks the start of a strategic partnership between the two entities.

The event was attended by J&T Express CEO Dean Ding, HMP Chairman Vicente T. Mills, Jr., HMP President Shingo Sakai, J&T Express Director of Procurement Arron Wang, HMP Director of Operations John Yi, and Hino Paranaque President Edward Tan.

According to HMP Chairman Vicente Mills, Jr., this ceremony marks the point when J&T joins the Hino family. He also assures that HMP can meet the logistics company’s large demand for truck maintenance, repair, and other needs.

Mr. Ding from J&T Express likewise added that they are pleased with their continued partnership with HMP. He also complimented Hino for its aftersales services and “impressive truck production that stood the test of time.”

Mr. Sakai from HMP also expressed that HMP will continue to provide its support to J&T as the latter expands its operations. For its part, HMP will further arm itself with the knowledge and skills to ensure “strong aftersales support.”

At the said ceremony, Hino also highlighted the 200 Series truck. It is the brand’s latest light commercial vehicle offering, and it can function as the perfect platform for last-mile deliveries. That said, it is highly likely that many companies like J&T Express will also add this new model to their fleets in the future.
