With the prestigious award, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has secured a back-to-back win following bagging the same accolade in 2022.

“Securing two consecutive Car and Driver EV of the Year awards is a tremendous accomplishment. This prestigious award acknowledges the remarkable efforts required to develop groundbreaking EVs like the Ioniq 6,” said Hyundai Motor North America President and CEO Jose Munoz.

“This recognition further bolsters our pursuit of global electrification leadership and provider of smart mobility solutions,” added Munoz.

The all-electric midsize sedan is said to have exceeded the expectations of the team behind Car and Driver, specifically in four key areas: Value, Mission Fulfillment, Technology Advancement, and Fun to Drive.

The road to victory wasn't easy considering the Ioniq 6 was pitted against the likes of the Toyota bZ4X AWD, Nissan Ariya e-4orce, GMC Hummer EV, and Lexus RZ450e. The award shows how the Ioniq 6 can impress in the US EV market that is dominated by the likes of the Tesla Model Y and Model 3.

"The Ioniq 6 lineup has available power and range that puts Tesla on notice," said Tony Quiroga, editor-in-chief, Car and Driver. "An 800-volt architecture reduces DC-charging times, but best of all, the Ioniq 6 is a car that we love to drive."

Locally, Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) has already opened the reservation books for the award-winning Ioniq 6. With a price tag of Php 3,798,000, the Hyundai EV comes with an EV range of 545 km and an 800-volt system capable of charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes via a DC fast charger.

The aftersales package also includes a free home installation of the standard 7.4 kW AC wall charger.
