The world is coming together in support of the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake. Japanese automaker Honda is at one with the world as it pledged to donate 10 million yen (or around Php 4.1 million).

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will donate the said amount to the Japanese Red Cross Society. It will support the humanitarian relief and recovery efforts in the affected areas including medical-related assistance.
“Honda would like to express its deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of the February 6, 2023 earthquake, which struck an area near the Turkish-Syrian border,” said Honda in a press release.
Other subsidiaries of the automaker are also supporting the victims of the devastating earthquake. Honda Motor Europe Ltd. and Honda Turkiye A. S. are slated to donate more than 200 generators and essential products to meet the most urgent needs.
Honda continues to support those in need
Meanwhile, American Honda Motor Co., Inc and Honda Development and Manufacturing of America. LLC have already been receiving donations from their Honda associates. The two are said to be planning to augment the donation with a company-matching gift.
As of this writing, the death toll has surpassed 40,000 people. The search and rescue operations have been ongoing since the earthquake happened last February 6. Honda said that it “sincerely hopes for the earliest possible recovery of the affected region.”
This isn’t the first time Honda partnered with the Japanese Red Cross Society to support countries facing crises. Last year, the automaker donated one million euros (about Php 58.9 million) to Ukraine to support people and neighboring areas facing difficulties amid the invasion.
Here in the Philippines, Honda is also hand-in-hand with Filipinos in times of crisis. During the height of the pandemic, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) donated various medical equipment to hospitals in Laguna, showing its support for medical front liners and the community.
