Honda Cars PH’s launching a new car in April, here’s our guess

It is already offered in Thailand.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), the official business unit of Honda in the country, announced that it will officially add a new model to the local lineup in April. The unveiling of the newest addition from HCPI will be held online to comply with safety and health regulations.

HCPI didn’t put out the name of the model it will be launching next month. All we know by now is that the Japanese carmaker will introduce a new car, not a facelift or next-generation model. And the closest Honda model we could think of as of this writing is the Honda City Hatchback.

The Honda City Hatchback

The Honda City Hatchback made its debut in Thailand last November 2020. This means that we can expect that the City Hatchback will shortly arrive in the local market as well. It shares the same platform as the latest generation of the subcompact sedan version that boasts sportier and more aggressive design cues.

In the Thai automotive market, both the Honda City and City Hatchback use a 1.0-liter VTEC turbocharged engine capable of generating 120 hp and 173 Nm of torque. The said engine might sound beneficial in terms of fuel efficiency and power, but it seems like the PH-spec Honda City Hatchback will be using the same 1.5-liter gasoline engine from its subcompact sedan sibling; that is if HCPI will introduce the model in the local market.

With the growing demand for the Honda City in the country, the introduction of the Honda City Hatchback will provide Filipino car buyers a more dynamic option that offers the same reliability, practicality, and a convenient car ownership experience. Interested individuals can catch HCPI’s official virtual launch on April 20, 2021.
