J&T Express received 300 Foton trucks

Held at Foton’s assembly plant in Clark Freeport Zone, the turnover ceremony was attended by key representatives from concerned parties including FMPI General Manager Levy Santos and J&T Express Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dean Ding.

“These industry-smart trucks are a source of pride to all of us at Foton Philippines because they are efficient workhorses that help businesses in the country thrive,” said Santos.

Among the 300 units are the Tornado M6.1C, the 25-footer Hurricane EST-M 4x2, and the 32-footer Hurricane EST-M 6x2. The Hurricane EST-M 6x2 offers a payload capacity of up to 25,000 kilograms.

The Foton Tornado M4.2C is also part of the roster. It is a light-duty truck powered by a 3.8-liter ISF Cummins diesel engine that makes 154 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.

This deal follows the partnership’s 500th unit turnover milestone, reflecting the strong bond between FMPI and J&T Express. With that being said, the express delivery courier company is now looking to make its 1,000-unit milestone with the Chinese truck manufacturer.

“Foton Philippines has a very complete aftersales service network and professional aftersales team in the Philippines, which is required by the express logistics industry. Especially during the pandemic, [the] Foton Philippines factory was in full production to guarantee delivery, which was pivotal in our business expansion,” said Ding.

Also in attendance at the event was the Honorable Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to the Philippines, Yang Guoliang. He commended FMPI for the successful conduct of the Big Show 2023 where the all-electric light-duty truck Tornado 3.6 EV was introduced. If J&T Express acquires Tornado 3.6 EV units, the partnership would be taken to the next level thanks to the truck’s eco-friendly benefits.
