Right after the Mazda MX-5 2019 was revealed in its homeland Japan, it only takes a week for its European cousin to show off its skin with a medley of upgrades. With a 2L gas powertrain, the vehicle is good to reach 7,500 rpm, which leaves its predecessor’s figure behind by 700 rpm.

Two options for the engine include a Skyactiv-G engine which is capable of putting out 182 HP and 205 Nm; In other words, it gets an increase of 24 HP and 2 Nm opposed to the existing model. Take the previous model for reference, which accelerates from rest to 62 mph in 7.3s and reaches a top speed of 133 mph, the upcoming CX-5 is expected to outperform these figures.

On the other hand, figures of the 1.5L engine are kept a mystery at the moment. As the best speculations may go, the engine may be good for 129 HP and 150 Nm and reach a top speed of 127 mph.

To qualify the Euro 6D Temperature emission regulations and the WLTP/RDE test cycle, Mazda surely has worked hard on their SkyActiv-G duo. Also by letting the delaying time after the driver applies the throttle, the Mazda MX-5 2019 will definitely take less time to accelerate from rest.

Safety features are one of the attention drawers. We won’t find it hard to name some such as a rearview camera, driver attention alert or traffic sign recognition. Additionally, it comes with advanced Smart City Brake Support to steer away from collisions and detecting objects ahead. To detect objects from behind, the car is backed by the Smart City Brake Support (Reverse).

Finally, changes come from a darker paint finish applied to the 16 and 17-inch wheels.
