There were two major sections of the blood donation drive event. The one which was arranged with the help of XYZ Manila Employee Network for CPI and CHI employees netted a total of 105 blood bags. Meanwhile, another blood donation drive event held at the Chevron Batangas terminal resulted in 22 blood bags.

Of note, the blood bags that were collected in this donation drive will be used by the PRC in its National Blood Service. According to the PRC, the latter aims to provide a safe and quality blood supply to the most vulnerable.

This blood donation drive though, isn’t the first time Chevron and the Philippine Red Cross have partnered up. Back in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CPI donated hundreds of Moderna vaccines to the PRC.

Way back in 2013, the company made a $70,000 (around Php 3.9 million) donation to the PRC for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. In 2016, Chevron likewise mobilized to donate around Php 560,000 to the PRC for disaster relief operations in the wake of Typhoon Bebeng.

For its other corporate social responsibility projects, Chevron has also supported the distance learning capabilities of Lumad students in Mindanao in 2021 through the donation of laptops. The company has also coordinated with the Department of Education’s classroom repair and cleaning program known as Brigada Eskwela.

Last month, CPI likewise engaged in a coastal cleanup operation in San Pascual Batangas. This was performed for the benefit of the vulnerable Olive-Ridley sea turtle species. The said turtle uses the shores of San Pascual, as its seasonal nesting ground.
