Chery was chosen to be the official presidential vehicle provider of the recently concluded 2023 Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

For those unaware, the BRICS summit is a gathering of the leaders of member states to foster world economic growth, reform global governance systems, and promote stability. It likewise functions as an arena where members can form agreements to cooperate in various fields.
During the length of the summit, world leaders of countries that are members of BRICS got to ride on the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max. According to the brand, being a vehicle partner for such a high-level international event showcases its strong global brand image and the quality of its products.
Of note, this is the second time that Chery has been chosen to provide transport solutions for BRICS dignitaries. The first time was at the 2017 edition of the said summit, where the brand deployed the Chery Tiggo 8 Family variant. This Tiggo 8 likewise served as the welcome car for the President of Brazil, and it is also the official car of Qatar Airways.
If you and your family want to get pampered like presidents, then be aware that the seven-seater Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is currently available in the Philippines as the Pro and the Pro PHEV. They come with a price of Php 1,698,000 and Php 2,500,000, respectively.
The Philippine-spec Chery Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV
Powering the Tiggo 8 Pro are two different engine options. For the top-spec PHEV model, it gets a 1.5-liter hybrid engine that’s good for 155 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. Its two electric motors then add 86 horsepower and 203 Nm of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT).
The base model meanwhile gets a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill that can generate 192 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. It also uses a seven-speed DCT, and it’s also front-wheel-drive.
Safety aboard this Chery model is provided by a collection of advanced driver assist systems (ADAS). This includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, integrated cruise assist, blind-spot detection, rear-cross traffic assist, traffic sign recognition, etc.

The Tiggo 8 Pro 2024 is a seven-seater midsize crossover. In the local market, this model has three different variants.

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Launch
The all-new 2024 Tiggo 8 Pro was launched in the Philippine market at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show. Locally, it has two variants. There's the entry-level Tiggo 8 Pro 1.6 AT, and the Tiggo 8 Pro 1.5 PHEV AT.
Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Interior
The all-new Tiggo 8 Pro can seat up to seven occupants. Step inside, and you’ll be greeted with a black and brown-themed cabin, plenty of soft-touch surfaces, and leather seats.
Also provided for this model is a digital gauge cluster, automatic air-conditioning, a push-to-start button, six-way power-adjustable front seats, multi-color ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof, among others.
Tech and Safety
Keeping the occupants of the Tiggo 8 Pro entertained is a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The said headunit is then linked to a six-piece speaker system.
Handling safety meanwhile is Chery’s own driver-assist safety suite. This collection of safety technologies includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, etc.
On top of those, this model also comes with what you’d expect from a modern vehicle. It has anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, tire pressure monitoring, stability control, and parking sensors, among others.

The Tiggo 8 Pro uses the TX1 platform. It also assumes a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Suspension-wise, it uses a MacPherson strut-type front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension.
